Multiplex Cinemas Multiplex Cinemas

Multiplex Cinemas, the place of many firsts. For Victoria, it's the first place she ever worked. But for Victoria and Kellen, it's the first place they hung out together. And it's the place they had their first date. That's why it hurt so much to see the old place close.

March 30, 2012 at 7:50 pm, Victoria and Kellen found themselves settling in for the beginning of 21 Jump Street. For a first date, Victoria figured a comedy was the best route to go. It was a simple night, pizza and a movie. But bringing Kellen to the theater was a pretty big deal. After working there for almost two years, her coworkers had become a second family. So bringing Kellen there on a first date under the scrutiny of her coworkers and managers was pretty risky. Everyone was watching. Luckily, the date was smooth and without any awkward encounters with coworkers. The movie was hilarious, though they were both worried about laughing too much at the potty-humor for fear of having the other think they were entirely too immature. They enjoyed themselves though, and decided to go on another date.

During that first summer, they spent a lot of time at the theater. Victoria's number one work perk was free early screenings of movies. They saw Ted, The Dark Kight Rises, and almost every other movie that summer together. Kellen surprised her at work sometimes with food for break, and sometimes just hung out to keep her company. Victoria worked a lot of hours at the theater, but it was always nice knowing that Kellen was on his way over to watch something as soon as she got off work.

Throughout the time that Multiplex remained open, they saw every movie there. When 22 Jump Street came out, they saw it together recreating their first date two and a half years later. But when the theater changed companies, the employees and managers left, and the Multiplex Cinemas marquee went down, they knew that they had said goodbye to one of their favorite spots.
